History

We are the second generation of a family business that has been involved in the art world for 50 years.

In the early 1970s, Fernando Pinós began his career as antique dealer in a shop called Art Nouveau. In 1978, he moved to number 331 on Consell de Cent, Barcelona's iconic art gallery street, where the hustle and bustle of Barcelona's artistic creativity could be felt, thus creating a sufficiently attractive and unique private initiative in Europe. This new gallery would be called Gothsland—land of the Goths—and would remain active until 2025.

New times call for new visions. With this online gallery, we have managed to combine the best of both worlds: a passion for art and technology. The Gabriel Pinós gallery contains all this artistic legacy, which can be visited from anywhere in the world.

Gabriel Pinós’ Museum engagement

Over the past two decades, Gabriel Pinós has established a distinguished presence in the international museum and cultural landscape through a wide range of collaborations. His work spans curatorial projects, expert advisory roles, scholarly conferences, and the loan or sale of important artworks and furniture by leading figures of Catalan Modernisme and international Art Nouveau.

Pinós has collaborated with some of the world’s most prestigious museums—including the Museu Picasso de Barcelona, the Museo Nacional del Prado, the Musée d’Orsay, the Guggenheim Bilbao, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and the Van Gogh Museum—bringing masterpieces of Ramon Casas, Santiago Rusiñol, Isidre Nonell, Olga Sacharoff, Antoni Gaudí, and others into major international exhibitions.

In addition to curatorship and museum loans, he has been entrusted with expertise and sales of significant works for national institutions such as the Ministerio de Cultura y Deporte, as well as contributing to landmark shows in Europe, Asia, and the United States. Through conferences, publications, and exhibition projects, he has also enriched public and academic understanding of Catalan modernism and its international connections.

This record of engagement reflects not only his expertise in the field of modern art and design but also his ongoing role as a mediator between collections, institutions, and the wider public, ensuring that key works of cultural heritage reach audiences across the globe.
