From Earth to table. A Thousand-Year dialogue.

From Earth to table. A Thousand-Year dialogue.

As autumn begins and the grape harvest season arrives, Gothsland Gallery invites visitors on a sensory journey with the exhibition "From the Earth to the Table. A Millennia-Old Dialogue." Spanning over three centuries—from the late 18th century to today—the exhibition explores the evolution of agriculture and its significance in artistic representation.

Another fascinating aspect of the show is the exploration of the “painting within a painting” technique. This pictorial device—used by masters like Velázquez and adopted by Ramon Casas in his portrait of Santiago Rusiñol—creates an illusion of depth and sets up a visual dialogue between different works. By including a landscape by Rusiñol within the portrait, Casas not only enriches the composition but also invites us to reflect on the relationship between the two artists.
